I started using Chocolatey to deploy applications both at work and at home. The install is simply a PowerShell script and all applications are installed from the command line using cinst . It is very simple to use and powerful. Check it out www.chocolatey.org

I recently decided to switch to Arvixe for the hosting of this blog. I chose windows hosting because my kevinverver.com site is using DotNetNuke so I needed windows hosting for that but use PHP on windows for this blog.

I like that Arvixe offers unlimited space and bandwidth and allows multiple domains per account with out the use of domain pointers and redirect code like some other hosts such as WinHost only offer. I was also looking for a host that offered Windows 2008 hosting with ASP.net 4.0 and access to IIS 7 Manager and SQL Server Management Studio access. Arvixe offers all of these services at a great price. They also have the URL Rewrite module for IIS 7 which is a module I really like.

I had some performance issues with Arvixe but their support was very helpful and was able to resolve the issues for me. Arvixe offers both 24/7 phone and e-mail support. Overall I would give Arvixe hosting 4.5/5 stars.
